⛔ Myth 1: One brand is clearly better than the others.
💚 Truth: All botulinum toxin products used in Finland are excellent.

As a healthcare professional, I am not even allowed to advertise a single brand of medication, so when I talk about "Botox treatment," I mean all treatments performed with botulinum toxin products.

⛔ Myth 2: “I was given 60 units of Dysport, but my friend was only given 20 units of Botox. What’s going on, which one of us was cheated?”

🛑 Stop.

💚 Truth:
Comparing units requires some basic math skills.

👉 1 unit of Botox or 1 unit of Xeomin ≈ 2.5 units of Dysport.

In other words:
20 U of Botox/Xeomin ≈ 50–60 U of Dysport.

A larger number does not mean greater effectiveness. Botox and Dysport are “different currencies.” 💶💵

⛔ Myth 3: The same product works equally well for everyone.

💚 Truth: Treatment response is individual.
One product works better for one person, another for another. If you get the best results with a certain brand of botulinum toxin, let me know!

And yes – in my experience, it may be that in your thirties, you get the best results with one product, and in your fifties, with another.

Your body changes. Your muscles change. Skin changes.

The brand does not determine the end result.

Botox Friday – before and after. 💉

▪ Natural movement is the focus. A completely frozen forehead is no longer the ideal for all my clients.

Botox treatments in the lip area are based on subtle adjustment of the muscles surrounding the lips.

When the muscle surrounding the upper lip relaxes, the red area of the lip becomes more visible, especially when smiling.

▪️Gummy smile Botox:

Do men undergo botulinum toxin treatment?
Yes, they do 🤝

Yet most of the before-and-after pictures we see are of women. Why?

It's not that men don't undergo botulinum toxin treatment. It's just that aesthetic medicine has long been marketed to women and described from a female perspective.
Public discussion about aesthetic treatments has also traditionally been gendered. When it comes to men, the topic is still met with restraint and invisibility. All of this is reflected in who appears in the before-and-after pictures.

Botulinum toxin treatments are performed on men for largely the same reasons as on women:
– to alleviate muscle-related ailments or pain signals
– to reduce the signs of aging

Botulinum toxin treatment is not a gender issue. The reasons for treatment are related to anatomy, muscle activity, and the patient's own goals. Botulinum toxin does not make the face more feminine or change the basic features of the face. When planned correctly, the result is individual and recognizably your own.

The publication of before-and-after photos is always based on the customer's separate consent, which in turn affects who ultimately appears in public image material.

Treatment expectations; why the practitioner matters 💉

Many Botox clients are nervous about the treatment: will the injections hurt, what will the end result look like, and which practitioner should they go to for Botox?

The procedure is quick. Small, precisely measured injections are made at the exact right points. The injections hurt only a little; the pain can be compared to a mosquito bite. Injections in the corners of the eyes hurt a little more than in other areas.

The effect is not immediately visible. The results develop gradually over 1–2 weeks as the botulinum toxin affects muscle activity. Two weeks after the treatment, you will notice the maximum effect. Many people describe the treated areas as feeling stiff and even slightly heavy after two weeks. At this stage, I advise waiting another week, and in fact, it is only after three weeks that the treatment is complete and can be "evaluated." 😉

The success of botulinum toxin treatment depends not only on the substance itself but also on the medical expertise of the professional administering it.

👉 𝗝𝗮𝘁𝗸𝗮 𝗹𝘂𝗸𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮, this is important.

These days, I get weekly consultation messages or hear about situations at the clinic where only a small amount of botulinum toxin was injected initially and then added twice or even three times. The highest number of injections I have heard of is five times in 1.5 months, and even then the treatment was not successful.

In botulinum toxin treatment, it is essential to choose a professional who can correctly assess both the number of units to be injected and the treatment areas as a whole from the outset.
It is not a good idea to "try a little" first and then add more several times. Repeated injections in a short period of time can increase the risk of botulinum resistance. 🆘❌

If necessary, it is safe to add more botulinum within four weeks of the initial treatment. I always include a follow-up visit in the treatment, and I do not charge extra for it. This allows me to ensure optimal results in a safe and controlled manner.

A natural, balanced, and lasting result comes from expertise, not experimentation. 👊🏼

Why do I usually recommend botulinum toxin treatment for three areas?

Every week at my clinic, I hear requests to perform botulinum toxin treatment on only one or two areas. Often, it is the wrinkles at the outer corners of the eyes, or crow's feet, that people do not want to treat. 💫

A good comparison for this is core training: if your goal is a strong core, it is not enough to just train your abdominal muscles. You also need to train your back and sides. The same thinking applies to the face.

The orbicularis oculi muscle pulls the outer corner of the eye into a wrinkle, which is why crow's feet form at the corners of the eyes. If the outer corners of the eyes are left untreated but the forehead is treated, for example, this can result in wrinkles forming above the corners, which are visible when the corners are raised. In the worst case, leaving the corners of the eyes untreated can also cause the corners to droop. 👁️

The injection technique and the choice of injection sites are also very important. The right injection sites and precise injection technique prevent unwanted effects. When all three areas are treated carefully, the end result remains natural and balanced.
This comprehensive approach has proven to be the most effective during my years of work, both aesthetically and functionally.

Why does botulinum toxin treatment seem to have such a significant effect on the appearance of the skin?

These before-and-after photos show one of my autumn Botox models. She is an excellent example of how botulinum toxin treatment also affects the appearance of the skin. Botulinum toxin does not improve the structure or quality of the skin, but it can still make the skin look noticeably fresher and more radiant.

When muscle movement calms down, the skin above them does not wrinkle constantly: the skin's surface smooths out, shadows diminish, and the overall appearance is refreshed. After botulinum treatment, the skin is smooth, clear, and youthful, even though the skin itself is not actually treated during the procedure.
