Sibeliusryppy

The glabellar line is one of the most common indications for Botox treatment. The glabellar line forms when the muscles between the eyebrows repeatedly contract during facial expressions. In particular, the corrugator supercilii and procerus muscles pull the eyebrows together and cause the skin between them to wrinkle.

Botulinum toxin relaxes these muscles, allowing the skin to smooth out and vertical lines to fade.

Botox treatment for frown lines is one of the most common aesthetic botulinum treatments. The treatment relaxes the muscles between the eyebrows and reduces constant skin wrinkling.

What is a Sibelius wrinkle?

Sibelius lines refer to vertical lines that form between the eyebrows. These lines can be single or double and are often visible when the person is concentrating or looking worried.

Over the years, repetitive muscle movements can leave permanent lines on the skin.

Botox treatment reduces the activity of these muscles, allowing the skin to relax. This also smooths out wrinkles.

Which muscles cause sibeliusryp?

Sibelius wrinkle anatomy corrugator supercilii procerus
Sibelius wrinkles are mainly caused by the activity of the corrugator superciliiand procerus muscles. When these muscles pull the eyebrows together and downwards, a vertical line forms between the eyebrows.

Vertical lines between the eyebrows are often associated with repeated activation of the facial muscles. Botulinum toxin treatment can temporarily reduce the activity of these muscles, allowing the skin to relax and the lines to smooth out.

The Sibelius wrinkle is mainly caused by the action of two muscles:

  • m. corrugator supercilii – pulls the eyebrows toward the midline
  • m. procerus – pulls the eyebrows down and wrinkles the skin between the eyebrows

The contraction of these muscles causes the skin to wrinkle vertically between the corners of the mouth.

Botulinum treatment reduces muscle activity and smooths the skin.

Where is Botox injected in the forehead?

Botox is usually injected into the muscles between the eyebrows that cause wrinkles.

Typical injection sites are:

  • m. corrugator supercilii
  • m. procerus

The exact location of the injection sites is planned individually. The treatment takes into account, for example:

  • eyebrow position
  • muscle strength
  • patient's facial expressions
  • facial symmetry

The right piercing technique is important to preserve the natural movement of the eyebrows.

The surgeon's perspective

In Botox treatment between the eyebrows, it is important to accurately identify the muscles causing the wrinkles. The injections are usually targeted at the corrugator supercilii and procerus muscles.

Training as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon provides a strong foundation for understanding the anatomy of the facial muscles and nerves, which helps in planning injection sites safely.

More information about Botox treatments

I’ve been seeing Ville since December 2022. I go to him for Botox once a year. And the results have lasted exceptionally well. Before getting Botox, my forehead and frown lines had already become very deep, and my forehead/expressions/gestures have always been very pronounced, which naturally causes the forehead lines to deepen much more. Fortunately, I decided to go to Ville in 2022 to prevent the lines and their deepening early on. The treatment itself doesn’t hurt at all, takes just a few minutes, and I can say without a doubt that Botox is the best thing I’ve ever done for my face. Ville is a true professional in his field! You can 100% trust yourself in his hands. If you’re looking for a Botox specialist in the Helsinki metropolitan area—go to Ville without hesitation! (Google review 01/2026)
